A pallet racking company run by the people who survey the buildings.

Three directors, an office at Seven Sisters and installation teams working across Wales and the West. Trading since 2009, independent of any manufacturer, and staking the business on getting the specification right before anyone quotes a price.

What we actually do.

We turn building height into usable storage, and then we keep that storage safe and legal for as long as it is in service. That covers the design and supply of pallet racking, shelving, mezzanine floors, cantilever and semi-automated pallet shuttle systems, and it covers the annual inspections, repairs, protection and training that follow the install.

Independence is the part that matters most to a buyer. We specify from Dexion, Link 51, Apex, Esnova, Sperrin and others, and identify components on older installations so a run can be repaired or extended rather than replaced. Components are not interchangeable between manufacturers, and a supplier tied to one range has an obvious reason not to mention that.

Refurbished capacity costs a fraction of new, provided the components are sound, matched to the system they are going into, and load rated as built. That is the whole basis of our used pallet racking work.

Specification before price

Storage study, throughput and layout are settled before a quotation exists. A price without a layout behind it is a guess.

Independent of manufacturers

We specify across ranges and identify what you already own, because components are not interchangeable between makers.

Honest about limits

If a shuttle will not pay, or a mezzanine will not fit the headroom, we say so on the first call and quote what does work.

The install is not the end

Inspection, repair, protection and training keep the system rated for as long as it is in service.

How a project runs.

Six stages, one project manager, and a re-inspection date set before we leave site. The order does not change, because skipping the front of it is what produces the layouts we get called in to fix.

  1. Step 1

    Survey

We measure the building and learn how the operation runs before mentioning a product.

  2. Step 2

    Design

Layout, system selection and a capacity figure, drawn in CAD against your trucks and stock.

  3. Step 3

    Quote

An itemised price covering protection, decking and installation, with alternative routes.

  4. Step 4

    Install

SEIRS registered teams, phased around a live operation with RAMS issued before attendance.

  5. Step 5

    Sign-off

Load notices, layout drawings and handover documentation, walked through on site.

  6. Step 6

    Inspect

Your first annual inspection date is set at handover so nothing lapses quietly.

The first stage costs nothing. See what a free site survey includes and what you keep afterwards.

Three directors and the team on site.

35 years between the directors, and the installers who build what they design. One office, no call centre, and a director reads every enquiry before it is allocated.

Meet the team
Rhys Bowden, Director

Rhys Bowden

Director

Survey and design. Rhys takes the measured layout, the system selection and the capacity figure that a quotation is built on, and is usually the first person on site.

Looks after: Survey, design and system specification

Rhian Bowden-O'Shea, Director

Rhian Bowden-O'Shea

Director

Contracts and client accounts. Rhian coordinates approvals, phasing and the paperwork a live site needs before anyone starts work, from RAMS to building control.

Looks after: Contracts, approvals and client accounts

David O'Shea, Director

David O'Shea

Director

Installation and inspection. David runs site delivery to SEIRS registered practice and manages the annual inspection programme for existing customers.

Looks after: Installation, inspection and site delivery

Jason, Installer

Jason

Installer

A qualified racking installer. Jason builds, alters and repairs pallet racking, shelving and mezzanine floors on live sites, working to the method statement agreed before the team arrives and leaving every run with its load notice in place.

Looks after: Installation, alterations and handover on site

Lowan, Apprentice installer

Lowan

Apprentice installer

Lowan works alongside the installation teams on every kind of job, from new pallet racking runs to repairs and rack protection, learning the trade to the same standards the qualified installers work to.

What the accreditations mean for you.

Procurement and health and safety teams ask for these before a contractor is admitted to a live site, so they are worth reading rather than counting.

SafeContractor approved

Health and safety competence independently assessed and audited annually. Usually the first document a procurement team asks for.

SEIRS registered installers

Installation teams hold current registration under the Storage Equipment Installers Registration Scheme, so the people building the racking are trained to the standard the design assumes.

SEMA codes of practice

Design, installation and inspection follow SEMA guidance, including the codes covering use, maintenance and inspection of storage equipment.

Standards we work to

The European standards covering racking design, tolerances, clearances and use of storage equipment, plus Building Regulations Approved Documents A, B, K and M on mezzanine floors.

What we stand behind.

The written terms go out with the quotation rather than being produced afterwards, and the load notices, layout drawings and handover pack are part of the job, not an extra.

Our workmanship guarantee

Every installation by Pallet Racking Services Wales is built to the manufacturer's design and SEMA guidance by SEIRS registered installers, and handed over with load notices, layout drawings and the date of your first inspection. If our workmanship is at fault, we come back and put it right at our cost.

Refurbished runs are load rated as built. We will not sell a mixed-manufacturer run, and we say so on the first call.

What lands with you at handover

Load notices
Fixed to every run, stating the configuration the bays are rated for.
Layout drawings
The as built layout, including aisle widths against the trucks in use.
Risk assessments and method statements
Issued before attendance and retained with the project file.
Inspection date
The first annual expert inspection is diarised at handover.

Questions about the firm.

Since 2009, with more than 35 years of combined industry experience across the three directors. Annual rack inspections are carried out for customers as a statutory requirement, so a good number of the buildings we installed a decade ago are still on the books.

An independent supplier and installer. Not being tied to one manufacturer means we specify from Dexion, Link 51, Apex, Esnova, Sperrin and others, and identify components on older installations so a run can be repaired or extended instead of replaced.

SEIRS registered installation teams, working to a method statement agreed before attendance, with one project manager as your single point of contact from survey through to handover. Construction phase duty holder roles are addressed in writing before anyone is admitted.

South Wales is the home patch. Teams travel across Mid and North Wales and into Bristol, Gloucester, Hereford, Shrewsbury, Telford, Oswestry, Chester and Ellesmere Port, 29 towns in all.

Installation workmanship is guaranteed and manufacturer warranties on supplied components are passed through in full. Written terms are issued with the quotation rather than afterwards.

Racking, shelving and warehouse accessories are sold online at palletrackingwales.shop. Designed and installed systems are quoted through the survey route, because a layout needs measuring before it can be priced honestly.
