What we need to quote you. Six measurements, one sheet.

A racking quotation is built from a handful of numbers. Send what you have and we will fill the gaps with you, on the phone or at a free site survey. Nothing here is gated, and nothing on this sheet commits you to anything.

The measurement sheet.

Rough is fine. A tape measure, a phone camera and ten minutes with whoever runs the trucks will cover most of it. Missing numbers do not stop a quotation, they just become the questions on our first call.

Schematic, not to scale. Letters match the list. Rough is fine: a tape measure and a phone camera cover most of it.
  1. A BBuilding dimensions

Length and width, wall to wall.

    • Internal length and width in metres
    • Any offices, mezzanines or plant inside the footprint
    • A plan or a phone photo of a site drawing if you have one
  2. FClear height

To the lowest obstruction, not the eaves.

    • Floor to the underside of the lowest haunch, light, sprinkler head, duct or heater
    • Whether the roof slopes, and the height at both ends
  3. C DColumns and doors

Where the building gets in the way.

    • Column grid spacing and the column size
    • Door positions, widths and heights, including dock levellers
    • Fire exits and routes that must stay clear
  4. GPallet detail

    Size, weight, overhang and condition.

    • Pallet type: UK 1200 × 1000, Euro 1200 × 800 or other
    • Loaded height and heaviest loaded weight
    • Any overhang beyond the pallet edge
    • Whether pallets are sound or mixed quality
  5. ETruck list

Every truck that will work the racking.

    • Type: counterbalance, reach, articulated or guided narrow aisle
    • Mast type and maximum lift height
    • Whether guidance or telescopic forks are fitted, or could be
  6. Stock profile

SKU count and pallets per SKU. This decides the system.

    • Number of SKUs stored as full pallets
    • Typical and peak pallets per SKU
    • Movements in and out per day or per hour at peak
  7. Rotation rule

    FIFO, LIFO or either.

    • First in, first out, last in, first out, or no rule
    • Whether it is a customer or regulatory requirement, or a preference
  8. Constraints

Anything that limits what can go where.

    • Floor condition, cracks, joints and any slab drawings
    • Temperature: ambient, chilled or freezer
    • Working hours, live operation and phasing needs

Why we ask, and what you get back.

These are not hoops. Each number removes a guess from the price. With them we can usually give you a price band or tell you which two systems are worth comparing before anyone visits.

Stock profile decides the system. Pallets per SKU separates selective racking from deep lanes faster than anything else. The racking system comparison shows why.

Clear height decides the levels. Measured to the lowest obstruction, it sets how many beam levels fit. Try your numbers in the warehouse space calculator.

Trucks decide the aisles. A counterbalance fleet and a guided narrow aisle fleet need very different layouts in the same building.

Extending racking you already own? Tell us the manufacturer, or use the rack identification guide, because components do not mix between brands.

Rather we measured it? That is the survey.

We measure the building, check the floor and the fleet, and come back with a CAD layout, a capacity figure and a priced quotation. No charge and no obligation.
