Racking inspection checklist. For the walk round between expert visits.

HSG76 expects recorded visual checks at regular intervals, often weekly, by the person responsible for racking safety, with an expert inspection at least every 12 months. This checklist gives that weekly walk a structure and a record.

Pallet racking end frames with a load notice and footplate protectors

What the checklist covers.

Nine sections, in the order you meet them walking a run. Each one carries the points to look at, a space to record what you found and a red, amber or green call for anything that needs acting on.

Uprights and frames

Section by section, front face and side.

Beams and locking pins

Every connector, every level.

Baseplates and anchors

Where impact damage starts.

Bracing and row spacers

The members nobody looks at.

Rack protection

Upright guards and end of run barriers.

Decking and pallets

What the beams are actually carrying.

Load notices

Present, legible and still true.

Environment

Floor, lighting, aisles and housekeeping.

Non-original components

Parts that do not belong to the system.

The checklist supports your internal checks. It does not replace the annual expert inspection, and any damage found should be assessed by a competent person before the bay is reloaded.
