Pallet racking in Neath, from our own yard up the Dulais Valley.
Neath is our home patch. Pallet Racking Services Wales runs from Gwauniarll at Seven Sisters, at the top of the Dulais Valley, so a unit on Milland Road or Neath Abbey Business Park is a 20 minute drive down the A4109 and A465 from the people who will survey, fit and inspect it.
That distance changes what we can offer. A forklift strike reported before lunch is often looked at the same day, common beams and frames come off our own racks rather than a manufacturer's lead time, and a director usually walks your floor before quoting.

Where Neath keeps its stock.
Neath's storage sits on a ring of council and private estates hugging the A465. Milland Road, on the southern side of town by the railway and the A474, mixes trade counters, plumbing and heating merchants, plant hire depots, fabricators and small engineering shops in steel portal units. Neath Abbey Business Park sits on its own slip road off the A465, about a mile from M4 junction 43, in units of roughly 1,100 to 3,500 sq ft.
Further out, Llandarcy has moved from oil refinery to the Coed Darcy regeneration, with commercial floorspace planned alongside the housing, and Baglan Energy Park on the coast has grown from the old BP chemical works into a 180 acre site with the University of South Wales Hydrogen Centre, an innovation centre and speculative industrial plots near M4 junctions 41 and 42.
The result is a town of small and mid-sized operators rather than one giant distribution shed. Most of the units we see are between 2,000 and 20,000 sq ft, with eaves of 5 to 8 metres, a counterbalance truck, mixed pallet and long-length stock, and a trade counter at the front that needs shelving as much as racking.

Racking and storage services for Neath units.
Neath work is mostly refits, extensions and urgent repairs in occupied units, so the list below is ordered by what operators on Milland Road, Neath Abbey and Baglan ask us for most often.
Racking inspections and the duty holder in Neath.
Under PUWER 1998 your racking is work equipment, and HSG76 expects the occupier to name a person responsible for racking safety, run recorded visual checks, typically weekly, and book an expert inspection at least every 12 months by a SEMA Approved Rack Inspector. In a small Neath unit that person is often the owner or the counter manager, so we keep the paperwork short: a bay map, a checklist your team can actually complete, and a clear rule for who offloads a damaged bay.
The risk profile here is distinctive. Trade counter units see delivery drivers and customers walking near the racking, plant depots run tracked kit and attachments in and out, and many tenants on short leases inherited racking with no load notices or install records. Our Neath inspections start by identifying the manufacturer and rated capacity, flag anything that cannot be verified, and separate urgent red items from amber items you can programme. Repairs follow SEMA codes of practice and our installers are SEIRS registered.
Why a Neath supplier based at Seven Sisters matters.
We are already in the valley, so a Neath visit does not mean a long drive or parts ordered after the survey. Our yard at Gwauniarll holds common frames, beams, decking, footplates and row spacers, so a typical Neath repair is assessed and fitted from the van, not quoted and scheduled for later. Being at the head of the A465 corridor also puts us within half an hour of Llandarcy and Baglan.
The yard works in both directions. When a Neath business moves, closes a line or downsizes, we buy back the racking, strip it down, check every component and put it back into service for another local operator with proper load notices. Trading since 2009 with 35+ years of combined experience, the business is small enough that a director usually visits the site, measures it and signs off the design.

Getting to Neath sites and fitting around your shifts.
From Seven Sisters we come down the A4109 through Crynant to the A465 at Aberdulais, which puts Neath town centre about 10 miles and 20 minutes away. Milland Road and Neath Abbey Business Park are a few minutes further along the dual carriageway, Llandarcy is about 13 miles, and Baglan Energy Park is roughly 16 miles via M4 junction 43, around 25 minutes outside rush hour.
That short run lets us split work into half days. Surveys are normally offered within a few working days, installs start at 7am and can run into evenings or weekends so a trade counter stays open, and inspections are booked around delivery windows. For multi-day jobs we leave materials staged overnight inside your unit rather than re-loading in Seven Sisters each morning.

A Neath job: long extrusions off the floor.
A typical Neath project starts with stock that outgrew the floor. In the case study linked here, six metre aluminium extrusions had been stacked on bearers, so lengths at the bottom of each bundle were crushed and bowed, and picking one profile meant unstacking the rest. We replaced the floor stacks with a single-sided cantilever run against the wall, with close arm spacing and end stops, worked around the existing sideloader.
The install ran in sections so goods-in kept unloading onto the first finished bays. That pattern repeats across Neath: a busy unit that cannot close, a mixed stock profile of pallets and long lengths, and an operator who wants the work phased. We survey, draw the layout, agree the sequence, then fit bay by bay.

Questions from Neath.
Our yard is at Seven Sisters, roughly 20 minutes from Milland Road and Neath Abbey Business Park. If you call before midday we can often have someone on site the same day to assess the damage, mark the bay and tell you whether it needs offloading. Where the frame or beam is a common profile we carry replacements, so many Neath repairs are completed on that first visit. Less common or obsolete sections are sourced and fitted within days.
Yes. We buy back serviceable pallet racking, shelving and cantilever from Neath units that are relocating, downsizing or closing. We give a price after seeing the system, dismantle it with our own SEIRS registered team, and take it to the Seven Sisters yard for checking. If you are moving within Neath Port Talbot we can often take your racking down and refit it at the new unit, with fresh load notices, instead of buying it.
Inherited racking is common on Neath estates. Before loading it, have it inspected so the manufacturer, beam capacity and frame rating can be confirmed and any damage recorded. We match components against known profiles, check anchors, baseplates and beam locks, and fit load notices where the rating can be verified. Anything that cannot be identified is flagged, and we quote either replacement beams or a new design. The inspection usually takes one to two hours for a small unit.
Often, yes. Neath Abbey units of around 1,100 to 3,500 sq ft tend to have enough height for a mezzanine over the office and goods-in area and a single run of pallet racking along one wall. We check eaves height, column positions, the slab and the roller shutter clearance first. Mezzanine steelwork usually takes 1 to 3 weeks on site, and we coordinate building control and fire requirements with your landlord.
We hold common frames, beams in popular lengths from 1500 to 2700mm, decking panels, footplates and safety pins at Seven Sisters, plus inspected used components. That covers most repairs and small extensions for Neath customers without a factory lead time. Larger new installations are ordered to your design, with racking usually installed 4 to 8 weeks from order and pallet shuttle systems 12 to 16 weeks. Smaller items can also be bought from palletrackingwales.shop.
For most sites, yes. Baglan Energy Park is about 25 minutes from our yard, so we can carry repair stock on the inspection visit. The SEMA Approved Rack Inspector records every defect with a risk rating, and if you approve a quote on the day, green and amber items can often be fixed straight away. Red items are offloaded immediately and repaired as soon as the parts are confirmed, usually within the same week.
Most merchant units we fit out combine three systems: cantilever for pipe and bar in lengths up to 6 metres, pallet racking for bulk boxed stock, and longspan shelving for fittings and consumables behind the counter. Longspan tiers can carry roughly 200, 400 or 800kg per level depending on the specification. We lay the counter area out so staff reach fast-moving lines within a few steps and customers stay out of the forklift aisle.
Other towns we cover from Seven Sisters.
Neath is the closest town to our yard, but the same crew covers the rest of the Swansea Bay area and the Heads of the Valleys. Port Talbot and Swansea are both within about half an hour, and the A465 takes us east to Aberdare and Merthyr Tydfil.
